SOFTWARE CHANGES:

• Macs -- will remain on Snow Leopard 10.6.8. Mac OS X LION is on hold until incompatibilities with key software suites are resolved.
• PCs -- Windows 7

Popular Software Suites

• Adobe Suite -- All versions have been updated to the latest release of 5.5. Mac users will be notified before installation starts. Windows users have to make an appointment for update to be applied.
• Apple Final Cut Pro -- FCP 7 will remain in the labs where it was installed before. FCP X will be added to New Media Lab and various SOFA areas. If you would like more information, please ask by submitting a ticket online.
• AutoDesk Software -- 2012 versions will be deployed to the labs for the start of Fall. Please make a request for the software to be applied to your computer.
• Microsoft Office 2011 for Mac -- Installed in all Mac labs. It is recommeneded that users of 2008 be updated at their earliest convenience. Please make an appointment via http://cias-helpdesk.rit.edu

• Brand new rolling carts, and iMac 27" i7s

• New Mac Pros 2.4 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeons

SOFA Edit Suites

• New Mac Pros 2.4 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeons

SOFA Under Grad

• Newer tables, Mac Pros cascaded from Grad Lab

Kodak Lab

• Mac Pros updated with ATI Radeon 5770 Graphics cards and new 1 TB hard drives.

NO MORE WAITING AT THE CAGE TO PUT MONEY ON YOUR PAPERCUT ACCOUNT!!!! ;-)

There is now a new link from the Checkout Portal; https://checkout.cias.rit.edu/ that will allow you to put money on your Print Account (PaperCut) with your Visa or Mastercard. Simply go to the checkout portal link, noted above, click on MyPapercut then click on ADD MONEY. Simply follow the prompts from there.

You also now have quick and easy access to a running history of all of your PaperCut transactions and will receive email verification of every PaperCut Credit Card transaction you make.

On March 2nd 2011 we upgraded our web server, along most of the system software being upgraded, PHP has been updated to PHP 5.3.x

Version 5.3 of PHP bring a slew of changes, most notably the addition of a Deprecated error message if your web application uses functions which are being phased out in future versions of PHP you will receive a warning message.
